Our History
OTP Media was founded by Odey Simon, CEO, after his presidential electoral race in the Federal University of Technology Owerri in 2024. The name OTP, an acronym for “Odey to Preside,” was coined as Simon's campaign slogan, resonating with the university's students and values.
Despite not making it to the ballot, Simon persevered, leveraging his fan base and visibility to launch OTP Media. Today, OTP Media stands as one of Africa's fastest-growing campus media outlets, offering news, entertainment, quality streaming, podcasts, commentaries, documentaries, and more.
With a visionary team driving its success, OTP Media continues to excel, pushing the boundaries of campus journalism in Nigeria. Its history is a testament to innovation and determination.
Meet Our Team
Simon Odey
Founder & CEO
Odey Simon Aboyi is a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and business strategist from Yala Local Government, Cross River State, Nigeria. Born as the second son in a family of three boys to Mr./Mrs. Moses Agi Odey, he resides in Calabar. Educated at Mater Dei Nursery and Primary School, Hope Waddle Training Institution, Federal Science College Ogoja, and currently pursuing Computer Engineering at FUTO. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as Class Captain, Social and Assembly Prefect, Press Club President, Course Representative, and National President of NACOMES. As a Paralegal Student and Senior Advocate of FUTO SAF, he holds a degree in Politics and Law. Currently serving as General Legal Council for JCI FUTO and Secretary General of FUTO Student Society of Journalists, he brings over 2 years of social media marketing and event planning expertise. Known in the university as H.E.Barr.Dr.Rtr.Amb.JC.JournComr. ODEY SIMON A. (SAF, GMNACOMES,), AKA OTP AKA ALUTA MANDELA, he continues to inspire excellence in leadership and entrepreneurship.

As a computer engineering student at FUTO, I've taken on multiple leadership roles: Course Representative, Lodge President, Director of Membership (JCIN FUTO), and Student Barrister, mastering the art of leadership and community building along the way.
